Compostable kitchen cloth? Meet Lappie!
We’ve been sold for decades the microfibre cloth as the ultimate cleaning tool … and you’re right, they’re highly absorbent …
However, they also shed microplastics when you wash them… because they are made of fine filaments made of petroleum-based materials such as polyester and nylon that are woven together into fabrics. Every time you wash these synthetic fabrics, millions of microfibres are released into the water. They are too small to be filtered out by waste treatment plants, so they end up polluting our waterways and oceans, and they are ultimately ingested by wildfile.
Luckily, there are now more and more natural fibres cloths on the market like “Lappie”
