We’ve chosen to devolve 5% of our Net Profits to The Ocean Cleanup, a Dutch based non-for-profit organisation, which develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.

The first system 001 has been deployed from San Francisco Bay in the USA in September 2018 but failed. The company is now trying to rebuild an improved system.

If successful, these systems can be deployed to remove plastic from other ocean garbage patches around the world. A full-scale deployment of their systems is estimated to clean up 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a huge collection of plastic created by ocean currents, floating trash halfway between Hawaii and California and its size is estimated to be twice the state of Texas, three times the size of France.
