We’re thrilled to announce that Simona Paganetto, Founder of I’m Plastic Free, has been named a finalist in the prestigious Champion of Change category at the Women in Digital National Awards 2025!
This category shines a spotlight on impact-orientated individual that are driving change and social good by either harnessing the power of digital or improving the digital industry. Simona stands alongside remarkable changemakers such as:
The Women in Digital Awards, founded on the powerful idea “you can’t be what you can’t see,” celebrate incredible women and non-binary professionals leading the way in the digital industries.
Simona’s recognition in this category underscores her tireless work in sustainability and her mission to empower others, particularly women and girls, to see what’s possible in digital, technology, and leadership even without having a formal background in IT, data, or science.
For me, this recognition isn’t just about the (behavioural change) work behind I’m Plastic Free, but about proving that anyone can learn anything. Simona Paganetto
Simona didn’t grow up in the digital era. Her degree is in Business and Chinese Studies, long before digital and social media even existed. She’s also a camera-shy introvert with zero formal background in data, IT, or science.
But with curiosity (and a lot of YouTube videos and online courses), she taught herself digital marketing. She had to when she left a corporate career in global MedTech to stay competitive on an ever-changing market…
This is proof that even without a traditional tech background, women can lead in digital spaces with authenticity, courage, and purpose.
Winners will be announced at the annual Women in Digital Awards Gala, set to take place on 24 October 2025 in Brisbane.
Let’s celebrate this achievement and cheer Simona on as she continues to champion purpose-driven digital leadership and sustainable change.
