The first ever Northern Territory Women’s Innovation Pitch took place on Friday the 9th of April in Darwin and Alice Springs. I’m Plastic Free was selected as one of the 6 finalists among more than 25 entries from Alice Springs, Katherine and Darwin.
We all pitched our ideas to a panel of expert judges of an in-person and virtual audience. It was so inspiring to be around other women with such great business ideas and of course it was an amazing moment when The Honourable Lauren Moss MLA, Minister for Women announced I’m Plastic Free as the winner together with two other local businesses.
We all received a placement in the Business Innovation Program, which provides us with a $30,000 grant including a special exemption for co-contribution commitments to help develop and commercialise our innovative business concepts. Furthermore, as part of the program we also receive a one-on-one professional advisory services from the Northern Territory Government’s Innovator in Residence service.
We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and to have won the first ever NT’s Women’s Innovation Pitch, as it allows us to continue to work on building the I’m Plastic Free marketplace and help educate people on how to reduce their plastic waste.
