Plastic Free Thermomix Accessories for Non-toxic Cooking

Have you also provided feedback to Thermomix that you’d like them to move away from plastic when in contact with hot food or liquids? Were you also disappointed to see that the new version doesn’t have less plastic than the previous one?

We were, and we have provided our feedback, asking if they’d consider moving away from plastic. The answer was, not to worry about the plastic. It is food safe. Really, in 2025?

“Hello,

outstanding quality and first-class service are our top priorities at Vorwerk. We are happy to assure you that all plastic parts of the Thermomix® that come into contact with food contain no plasticizers and are BPA-free.

We are constantly working to make our products even better. All Thermomix® accessories are dishwasher-safe and therefore also heat-resistant to a corresponding extent. The materials used are food-safe and therefore harmless to health. Vorwerk Thermomix® regularly checks its products in extensive internal test procedures as well as by independent external institutes.”

There is enough scientific evidence that plastic in contact with hot food and liquids release microplastics, so we have found some products to replace at least some your Thermomix plastic items, and we’d like to share them with you.

Very nice. However, is there any plastic-free alternative to the TM6 lid? I’m worried about the silicone on the inside of the lid since it’s constantly getting heated and in direct contact with mixing bowl contents. What do you recommend to limit this risk?

      Hi Jerry,
Great question. I have the same problem, though I still have a TM5.
Unfortunately no, there isn’t, yet! I have been scouting for it without success so far… and that is the main reason why I’m not upgrading to a new Thermomix. I won’t do it unless the cooking area is plastic free!
One tip I can give you is to wash the lid ALWAYS by hand, never in the dishwasher. By washing it by hand, the plastic and the silicone ring stay intacter or at least in better condition for a much longer time. In the dishwasher, on the contrary, they both degrade quite fast due to the combination of the high temperatures and the detergent.
I hope this helped a bit, despite I don’t have a solution. If yes, we’d immensenly appreciate if you could leave us a review here: https://g.page/r/Cai0cN6YmcyFEBM/review
It means the world to us.
      Kind regards,
      Simona
